I qualified from Bristol University in 2003 and initially moved to South Wales where I worked in mixed practice.
After 3 years working in the UK, I set off on the first of a few cycling adventures with my partner Gareth. We backpacked through Asia, cycled from Sydney to Brisbane in Australia before spending 12 months in New Zealand where I worked as a small animal vet in a couple of different practices.
Back on our bikes again we explored a little more of New Zealand and then one final month back cycling the Great Ocean road in Australia before returning to the UK.
I joined the West Mount vet team in Summer 2008 as Branch Manager at Mytholmroyd. I have a keen interest in surgical cases and have rapidly become an avid feline vet, largely due to all the feline patients that I see from Yorkshire Cat Rescue.
I have my own beautiful cat called Indie who is always full of mischief.
I was lucky enough to miss the English winter last year and spend the time cycling through the Andes in Argentina and Chile and visit Antarctica. The scenery and wildlife were outstanding.
Now back at Mytholmroyd it has been good to catch up with old patientsand meet many new ones.
I have settled well in to this beautiful area of the UK and when not at the Mytholmroyd surgery can often be found running or cycWest Mount Vets - Todmordenling with local clubs or competing in nearby fell races or triathlons.
I qualified from Liverpool university in 2005 and moved to Calderdale in 2009 to join West Mount Vets where I work mainly at the Mytholmroyd and Todmorden branches.
I have a keen interest in internal medicine cases and also like dealing with exotics and wildlife too. We've had bats, bagders, woodpeckers and waxwings at Tod surgery in the last year.
I enjoy fell-running, rock climbing, cycling, swimming in cold places and eating cake. I am a member of Todmorden Harriers and love running around the local hills.
I also have a little cat (on loan) called Indie who is the best cat in the world.
I trained at West Mount through Harper Adams University and qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in summer 2010.
I have worked at all the branches and am now based full time at Mytholmroyd, although I am often at Halifax providing out of hours care for our inpatients and emergency cases.
I am in my element with emergency nursing and in patient care and enjoy also theatre work and using all the skills I gained whilst training. I also run nurse clinics on a weekly basis.
I live in Bradford with my partner Jason and our crazy rescue Staffie cross Tye. While not at work I enjoy spending time outdoors, socialising, camping and tending to my vegetable patch!
Jo has worked for West Mount for ten years now and has been a fully qualified VN for seven years!
She recently moved from working at both Hebden Bridge and Todmorden surgeries to full time at Hebden Bridge (now Mytholmroyd).
Jo has one dog, two cats and her most recent arrivals are two mischevious ferrets Miffy and Ted! She enjoys keeping fit and may on occasion be seen puffing up and down the hills of the Calder valley.
Jo is currently on maternity leave.
I am a qualified Veterinary Nurse and currently work at the Mytholmroyd surgery, although I have worked at all of our branches at some time or another.
I have been qualified for 13 years now but worked for West Mount Vets for nearly 23 years. I enjoy all aspects of my work here but find surgery and anaesthetics the most interesting. I also enjoy working on reception as it’s here we meet the many varied and interesting people and animals.
I live in Hebden Bridge with my three daughters, two black Labradors and two cats. I rarely have a spare moment but when I do I try to get out running somewhere in the valley with one or more of the above usually joining me.
In the last couple of years I have run The London Marathon and The Great North Run. This year I will be taking part in The Paris Marathon and hoping to raise more funds for a local animal charity, (Yorkshire Cat Rescue, formerly Haworth Cat Rescue.) With the support of our very generous friends and clients we have raised approximately £3.500 so far.
I find Veterinary Nursing and running very similar, hard work, but rewarding and hopefully I will be doing both for a few more years to come.
I have worked at West Mount Vets for around a year and a half now and each day is never the same as the last!
I split my time between the Mytholmroyd and Paddock branch; you can also find me at our main hospital in Halifax doing out of hours and weekend work.
I have always had a huge love of animals. I have two Labradoodles - Molly and Louie, two cats - Annie and Connie and a rabbit – Jasper. Molly is the beautiful pooch in the photo!)
I graduated from University with a Fine Art degree, quite a difference I know! Whilst completing this, I attended numerous work experience placements at veterinary practices and boarding kennels/catteries to give me the knowledge and experience required to work in such an environment.
I have completed a first aid course for cats and dogs which I have found to be invaluable! At present, I am at the end stages of completing my Veterinary Care Assistant training. I am also a member of the BVNA.
I have a keen interest in feline and canine behaviour.
