Gemma Kendall

GemmaI qualified from Liverpool university in 2005 and moved to Calderdale in 2009 to join West Mount Vets where I work mainly at the Mytholmroyd and Todmorden branches.

I have a keen interest in internal medicine cases and also like dealing with exotics and wildlife too. We've had bats, bagders, woodpeckers and waxwings at Tod surgery in the last year.

I enjoy fell-running, rock climbing, cycling, swimming in cold places and eating cake. I am a member of Todmorden Harriers and love running around the local hills.

I also have a little cat (on loan) called Indie who is the best cat in the world.

Joanne Entwistle

JoanneJo has worked for West Mount for ten years now and has been a fully qualified VN for seven years!

She recently moved from working at both Hebden Bridge and Todmorden surgeries to full time at Hebden Bridge (now Mytholmroyd).

Jo has one dog, two cats and her most recent arrivals are two mischevious ferrets Miffy and Ted! She enjoys keeping fit and may on occasion be seen puffing up and down the hills of the Calder valley.

Jo is currently on maternity leave.

I have worked at West Mount Vets since 2005.  I am currently based at Mytholmroyd, but you can sometimes catch me at our hospital in Halifax.

During my employment at West Mount Vets I have qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse, it took me two years and was hard work but with the support of my colleagues I made it and Im now proud to say Im a qualified nurse.

In the picture you can see me and my Labradoodle 'Marv' enjoying a day at the beach.  Waiting patiently at home were my pointer, 'Dipper' and my two pugs 'Lollie' and 'Berry'.

Aside from my nursing skills I have a keen interest in all things canine, especially those which are pug related and I belong to a pug group which meets for walks and talks regularly.  If you want a chat about anything canine or specifically pug related, feel free to give me ring at Mytholmroyd.

LornaI am quite new to West Mount Vets and can certainly say I have never felt so welcome and at home.

I have always had a huge love of animals, having quite a menagerie at home! I have two Labradoodles - Molly and Louie, two cats - Annie and Connie, a rabbit - Japser and a rat - Rufus. (Molly is the beautiful pooch in the photo!)

I recently graduated from University with a Fine Art degree, quite a difference I know! Whilst completing this I went on as many work experience placements at veterinary practices and boarding kennels/catteries to give me the knowledge and experience required to work in such an environment.

Earlier this year I completed a first aid course for cats and dogs which I have found to be invaluable!

I plan to enrol on a canine behaviour course and also an holistic therapy course in the future.
